Pre-Teen & Teen Classes

AQUATICS

MINI MASTERS
Ages 8 – 12
Wed. 6-7pm BOYE POOL
A weekly swim workout that is ideal for young experienced swimmers who want to keep in “competitive swim” shape. Participants should be proficient in freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke.

JR. MASTERS
Ages 13 – 17
Wed. 7-8pm BOYE POOL
Drills designed to help swimmers improve stroke technique while building endurance. Participants should be proficient in freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke.

X-FIT H2O
Ages 9 – 13
Thu. 6:30-7:30pm BOYE POOL
Reap the cardiovascular benefits of swimming while taking a proactive approach to injury prevention. Increase your stamina in the pool while targeting individual muscle groups (core, quads, triceps, deltoids, etc.).

WATER POLO HIGH SCHOOL COED INTRAMURALS
Ages 14 – 18

Sept. 16 – Nov 4 (12 weeks)
Looking for a game of water polo? Grab your friends and try our co-ed high school water polo program! Weekly pickup games led and officiated by our water polo coach.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING
Ages 15 & Up
Lifeguard course available for candidates interested in working at a pool. All participants must have strong swimming skills (able to swim freestyle & breaststroke).

PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS
Instructor designs a curriculum to help your Teen learn the swimming skills necessary for safety as well as enjoyment. Teens develop confidence while learning the different strokes in this one-on-one session.

BEGINNER GROUP
Ages 10 – 17 (45 min)
Skill Goals: Able to swim freestyle with side breathing and backstroke 25 yds., elementary backstroke, beginner dives, jumps independently into deep water and swims 15 yds.

INTERMEDIATE GROUP
Ages 10 – 17 (45 min)
Skill Goals: Swims freestyle 100 yds., swims backstroke 50 yds., swims breaststroke 25 yds., treads water, standing dive.

ADVANCED GROUP
Ages 13 – 17 (60 min)
Skill Goals: Freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, flip turns, diving from the blocks.

NEW! TEEN BARRE
Ages 11 – 14  Mon. 4-4:45pm at the Franklin Lakes Community Center
Teen Barre is a ballet-barre based fitness option for teens after school. Great for all fitness levels, the class combines the best of Pilates with elements of dance, yoga, and cardio sculpting.

FIRST STEPS TO FITNESS
Ages 7 – 10 Thu. 5:30-6:15pm at the YMCA
Start on the right foot with this upbeat and educational introduction to everyday fitness.

TEEN CYCLING
Ages 11 – 14  Thu. 4-4:45pm  at the YMCA
A great cardio instructor-led workout of simulated road bike riding to energizing music; appropriate for all fitness levels. Class size limited. Bring water and a towel. Teen must attend Spin Orientation.

YOGA FOR KIDS
Ages 10 – 12  Mon. 4-4:45pm at the YMCA
Thu. 4-4:45pm at the Franklin Lakes Community Center
Improve strength, flexibility, and coordination. Learn how to focus and center yourself with various breathing and visualization techniques. Practice challenging poses, partner and group poses, and learn basic anatomy through yoga games.

YOGA FOR TEENS
Ages 13 – 15 Wed. 4-4:45pm at YMCA
Build strength and flexibility with physically challenging postures and flowing sequences. Promote selfconfidence, awareness, and control. Visualization and breathing exercises are used for overall balance and concentration.

ZUMBA FOR TEENS
Ages 10 – 14  Tue. 4-4:45pm at the Franklin Lakes Community Center
Join the party with motivating music and dance infused fitness moves inspired by international rhythms that are fun and easy to follow.

FITNESS FOUNDATIONS
Ages 11 – 12
Sun. 1-2pm, Tue. 5-6pm at YMCA & the Franklin Lakes Community Center
Set the foundation and learn proper form and technique on cardio and circuit equipment along with proper etiquette in the Fitness Center. A great and safe step before working out on your own.

BABYSITTING COURSE

Train with an American Red Cross Certified Instructor to build confidence in handling an emergency situation to make you a more successful babysitter. Basic care, safety tips, safe play, and first aid will be among the numerous topics discussed.

AAU BASKETBALL PROGRAM
Gr. 4 – 11
Focus is on overall skillsets, both offensive and defensive including cardio conditioning. The AAU Program provides an environment of learning, not only about basketball, but focuses on life lessons to develop the total player.
• More affordable option to other AAU Teams in the area, yet offers the same elite level of coaching and training
• Season runs from end of March to early June
• Practice 1-2 days per week

TRAVEL BASKETBALL PROGRAM

The program is structured to be free of parent coaching and excessive expense. We stress dedication and hard work in a balanced environment while trying to accommodate your family’s schedule as much as possible. Includes 20 games & Practice 1-2 days per week.
