How many cast members are in each show?

Based on the size of our stage, new stage extension, and to adhere to social distancing guidelines, we can accept up to 40 people (Gr. 5 and up) in our Fall 2020 production of A Christmas Carol.

What are the fees involved?

All participants pay a registration fee:

Full Member: $150 / Program Member: $200  / Non-Member: $250

If your family is interested in participating, but is concerned about the financial commitment, please visit the Y’s website for a scholarship application. The Y is a charitable organization who will never turn anyone away for inability to pay. The Theatre Company provides most of the costumes for productions. Participants may be asked to provide personal costume items, accessories and appropriate shoes.

What is the rehearsal commitment?

A Christmas Carol will rehearse twice a week: Thursday evenings from 5:30-8pm & Saturday afternoons from 1-6:30pm both VIRTUALLY and IN-PERSON.  All participants should be prepared to attend rehearsals remotely and in-person as needed.  Cast members must be available for all rehearsals, performances, and any scheduled public events. Attendance is a must. Your initial commitment is to provide the highest quality performance, and all other conflicts and commitments must be known in advance.

Will I have to be at every rehearsal?

The Y Arts Team makes a concerted effort to build a comprehensive schedule that is distributed 2 weeks in advance. Though performers may not be needed at every rehearsal, we ask that Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons are blocked out so that all characters may be called on those particular days.

Regarding COVID-19 Guidelines: What new policies and procedures are in place?

  • In-person rehearsals that take place indoors will require that all participants and staff wear masks at all times when singing/dancing/acting
  • We will utilize our outdoor stage space and patio space for rehearsals as much as possible (Outdoor rehearsals only require masks when social distancing is not possible)
  • Staging of scenes and songs will maintain at least 6 feet of distance between performers on our stage and performance area, with floor markings to guide performers
  • Groups of no larger than 10-12 people will rehearse and appear on stage or in a performance area at a time
  • Only participants in the show will be permitted in the Y building
  • Participants will be greeted at the designated Performing Arts Drop Off Location and receive temperature checks and health screenings prior to each in-person rehearsal
  • Performers will not perform scenes or songs with masks on; Performers will wear masks when waiting backstage or in our designated off-stage performance area

How much are tickets? Do cast members receive complimentary tickets?

Ticket prices vary depending on the show. Some performances may offer preferred seating (choose your seat!) while others are general admission. Ticket prices range from $12-$20. Cast members do not receive complimentary tickets.

How long is the performance?

Y Arts Theatre Company production of A Christmas Carol will be approx. 90 minutes with no intermission.
