BONE UP

Improve Strength, Balance, Bone Density

Location: The Franklin Lakes Community Center

Bone Up is fitness for your bone health. Vital at every age for healthy bones, exercise is the key for treating and preventing Osteoporosis. Max. 6 participants per session.

  • A Warm Up
  • Resistance Training using 6-8 repetitions
  • Arm Work
  • Ab/Core Exercises
  • Mobility and Balance Training
  • Exercise selections especially target areas of the body that weaken with age.

Adult Fitness Program Classes: Sess. I/II

Arthritis Class 

Mon. 12:15-1pm

A low-intensity workout designed for those with arthritis or other joint challenges; exercises utilizing light weights and dynabands that are recommended by The National Arthritis Foundation.

A.S.S.I.S.T: 

Active Solutions to Strengthen Individual Specific Tendencies

Wed. 1:30-2:15pm

Recommended for those with Parkinson's, Muscular Dystrophy, and anyone with limited mobility. Includes weight training, balance and gait exercises, along with gentle aerobics.

Functional Fusion 

Wed. 9:30-10:30am

Class combines the unique blend of Kettlebell Conditioning and TRX Suspension Training. This full body challenge improves strength, flexibility, balance, and core stability. A powerful class that delivers a high calorie BURN!

Ski/Snowboarding Conditioning 

Mon. 10-11am

Class combines the unique blend of Kettlebell Conditioning and TRX Suspension Training. This full body challenge improves strength, flexibility, balance, and core stability. A powerful class that delivers a high calorie BURN!

Hatha Yoga for Healthy Bones 

Sess. II: Wed. 11:30am-12:30pm

Location: Lakehouse

Instructor: Nancy Nehama, RN, BSN, RYT - Learn about the “Do’s and Don’ts” of safely strengthening, lengthening, and building muscle and bone through yoga. Focus is on alignment to stimulate bones and the suggested guidelines for those with osteoporosis.

Through expressive movement, Nia empowers you to achieve physical, mental, and spiritual health and well-being.

Pre/Post Natal Yoga

Improve flexibility while increasing strength and endurance to promote proper breathing and relaxation during and after pregnancy.

Restore and Renew for AOA 

Wed. 11:30am-12:30pm, Fri. 12:30-1:30pm

Active restorative postures to awaken, realign, and alleviate muscular tension. Stimulate the body’s natural healing to foster wellness in your daily life. This class includes floor work.

Tai Chi 

Mon. 9-10am, Wed. 7-8pm, Sat.10-11am

Location: Lakehouse

Instructor: James Jan - The ancient art of Tai Chi may be an ideal form of exercise for people to reduce stress. Feel relaxed after practicing the slow stretching, breathing, and gentle movement it creates. No experience necessary.

Chakra Balancing 

Sess. I: Tue. 11:30am-12:30pm

Location: Lakehouse

The Chakra system is often referred to as the vortex of energy within the body. Each class begins with a discussion of the 7 Chakras and explores ways to balance and harmonize through specific yoga poses, color, and sound. Each Chakra has its own sound and you learn 7 mantras along with harmonizing sounds of the Himalayan singing bowls. Leave relaxed with practical tips on balancing the energy flow for daily practice.

NEW! Elements of Ayurveda for Spring 

Sess. II: Tue. 11:30-12:30pm

Location: Lakehouse

Instructor: MaryAnn Gebhardt - Ayurveda is a system of knowledge of daily and seasonal routines. Ayurveda is a way to harmonize with nature and reach our highest potential of balance. This 8 week series weaves the elements of Ayurveda for fall through yoga movements, discussion, and relaxation.
