New Program Starting this Fall: Bone Up!

Improve Strength, Balance, Bone Density

Bone Up is a new program to be launched at the FLCC and the YMCA this Fall. This info-session will give you the education and the particulars of the program. Bone up is Fitness for your bone health. Vital at every age for healthy bones, exercise is the key for treating and preventing osteoporosis. Not only can exercise improve your bone health, it can increase muscle strength, coordination and balance.

Tuesdays & Thursdays 7am, 12pm, 1pm, or 7pm

Wednesdays & Fridays at 7:30am

Sundays at 11am

Classes begin October 1

Member: $20 per session

For Moms or Dads and Children in Strollers

Stroller Strong is a total-body workout for moms or dads with kids included . Add upbeat music and you have a recipe for family fun and fitness.

Arthritis Class

A low-intensity workout designed for those with arthritis or other joint challenges; exercises utilizing light weights and dynabands that are recommended by The National Arthritis Foundation.

Active Solutions to Strengthen Individual Specific Tendencies 

Sess. I/II: Wed. 1:30-2:15pm

Recommended for those with Parkinson's, Muscular Dystrophy, and anyone with limited mobility. Includes weight training, balance and gait exercises, along with gentle aerobics.

Class combines the unique blend of Kettlebell Conditioning and TRX Suspension Training. This full body challenge improves strength, flexibility, balance, and core stability. A powerful class that delivers a high calorie BURN!

Hatha Yoga for Healthy Bones

Focus is on alignment to stimulate bones and the suggested guidelines for those with osteoporosis.

Jin Shin Jyutsu ®

Instructor: Marina Bardash

Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient Japanese Healing Art which harmonizes body, mind, and spirit. It utilizes a form of light self touch of energy points on each side of the body. Jin Shin Jyutsu elicits the relaxation response with decreased symptoms of stress, anxiety, and fatigue.

Matter of Balance is a nationally recognized program designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults. Led by a trained facilitator, the program enables participants to achieve significant goals. They gain confidence by learning to exercise, to increase strength and balance, set goals for increasing activity, and make changes to reduce fall risk at home.

Program designed to benefit older Adults who:

  • Are concerned about falls
  • Have sustained falls in the past
  • Restrict activities because of concerns about falling
  • Are interested in improving flexibility, balance, and strength

Nia ®

The ancient art of Tai Chi may be an ideal form of exercise for people to reduce stress. Feel relaxed after practicing the slow stretching, breathing, and gentle movement it creates. No experience necessary.

Explore the history and origin of Himalayan Tibetan singing bowls. Focus on how to hold and play Tibetan singing bowls. Explore how to incorporate the bowls in a meditation practice.

"Y" K.O. Kickboxing

Yoga for Healing

Practicing Yoga with special movements helps to stimulate the immune system and the relaxation response. Yoga for Healing is an integrative practice to bring healing to the body, mind, and spirit. End each class with guided imagery and the sounds of the Tibetan singing bowls that encourage a sense of well-being.
