THE SPLASH SCOOP - MAY
2026 ANNUAL CAMPAIGN
The Annual Campaign, held each year in the first quarter, is the Y’s general appeal to the Community-At-Large. Primarily to support our philanthropic work, your financial support assists the Y in responding to the ongoing requests for help we receive daily. Your Membership Dues and Program Fees go toward covering the Y’s operating expenses, but your donations for the Campaign go toward helping your neighbors stay healthy and well. Connected by a shared vision, Staff at all levels work with one another to engage committed Volunteers, YMCA Members, and Donors to make a lasting impact on the communities served by our Y.

Dear Aquatics Members,
Our final session of school year swim is upon us and we are thrilled to welcome so many new swimmers to our academy.
Our summer intensive sessions begin in early July. Think of these as our Netflix version of swim lessons - you get to binge them in 2 weeks, just like your favorite show. This is great for learning and retention! Stop in or email us if you would like more information on our summer offerings.
Swimmingly Yours,
Dave and The Aquatics Team

This Month We're Featuring: Carlos and Luis
Carlos and Luis are some pretty awesome kids. They came to us last September with one singular goal - to learn to swim and be safe in the water. And their father was determined to make this happen. He enrolled them in whatever private lesson or group lesson he could find, rushing them from school to make the classes. When they first arrived they were shy and nervous about the lessons. But oh what a difference a year makes. Now - they are funny, confident swimmers who have excelled and climbed through our levels each session.
Luis came to us as a beginner swimmer who was not confident in the deep end. He is now a Swim Academy 3 swimmer who swims laps. Carlos was also nervous, but determined to get better. He is now a Teen Academy 3 swimmer with his sights set on our Stingray Swim team in the fall. He swims lap after lap, gaining speed and efficiency each one. These kids are awesome and we are very proud of them. They also tell a great joke - “What did the pig say while lying on the beach? ………. I’m bake-in!”
This Month: Teen Academy Swimmers
Our Teen Academies have really taken off. This session we filled all 6 classes with Teen swimmers who really want to get better in the pool. Learning never ends!
March was a fantastic month for the Sharks! Our team competed at USA Zones in Buffalo while the National Team traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina for YMCA Nationals. Out of more than 180 teams and over 1,300 swimmers, the National Team finished an impressive 20th overall. The Sharks delivered many top-16 finishes, including strong relay performances on both the girls’ and boys’ sides.
We also hosted our spring clinics, where many of our younger swimmers put in great work refining their technique and staying active in the water during their break.
April marks the start of the Long Course season, and we’re excited for a summer filled with fast swims and plenty of fun.
Go Sharks!

May 13: Intro to Gardening
May 25: Memorial Day Parade

- Parents and children will enter the pool area through the locker rooms to check in with the Aquatics Supervisor on the pool deck. After checking in, parents will exit the pool deck through the exit door. There is a parent viewing/waiting area adjacent to the pool deck.
- Only swimmers ages 13 and above are allowed to be dismissed directly into the changing rooms. Thank you for your patience with us during dismissal and check-in - there is a lot of activity on the pool deck, and we want to ensure everyone’s safety. Please be reminded that swimmers under the age of 13 MUST be brought into the facility by an adult and checked in to their lesson with an adult. They can not be dropped off at the entrance and walk in alone. They also must be picked up at the end of the lesson by an adult. They are not allowed to go to the locker room from their lesson. These rules are in place to ensure the safety of all of our young swimmers. We thank you in advance for your help with this procedure.
- Please remain in the building if your swimmer is under 13 as we may need you if something arises during the lesson.
- If you have a question, please try, and wait until after the check in process so that the Aquatics deck supervisor can give you their full attention.
- Please remember to use the appropriate changing room before and after your swim lesson. This ensures all swimmers have a safe and comfortable experience.
- The Girls locker room in the Inserra pool is for girls under the age of 13 and adult women assisting their child(ren).
- The Boys locker room in the Inserra pool is for boys under the age of 13 and adult males assisting their child(ren).
- The family locker room is for boys or girls and their caregivers or parents. There are individual changing stalls in this room. This is suitable for younger children and either parent.
- Children 13 and older (and all adults) can use the men’s/women’s locker room in the Boye Pool. Children must be over the age of 13 to be dismissed directly from the pool to the locker room.
**Please be reminded that if your child is not fully potty trained, they are required to wear a swim diaper, plus a pair of vinyl swim pants, under their bathing suit. This helps contain any accidents and keep the pools open and running correctly.
