Greetings from the bustling Performing Arts Office!
As we attempt to beat the blizzard and stay warm this winter, the lights continue to shine bright on our stage at the Y and around the neighborhood. Dueling Pianos earlier last month had the heat rising in our theatre, and there’s much preparation for all that’s to come this spring and summer! Students at Woodside School Drama Club and Franklin Avenue Middle School (FAMS) Drama Club are under the Y Performing Arts purview as they rehearse for “Jungle Book Kids” and “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” at their schools, scheduled to take the stage this month. Y Arts Teens are in rehearsal for their first-ever “Teen Broadway Cabaret” set for performance in May, and our Pre-K friends attend Theatre Class each week to work on their performance of “Happy Birthday, America!” slated to take the Y’s stage in April. We have lots in store, and we can all agree…the warm weather can’t come soon enough!

Singer Spotlight: Classical Music Appreciation Series
Our new Classical Music Appreciation Series! These classes have been launched and are full speed ahead! Featuring live vocal and piano performances, this mini-series’ focus is the master works of famed composers from the Classical & Romantic Time Period. There’s 2 more sessions in the works, which will highlight the way composers paint pictures with sound, and will also allow participants to curate their own Classical Music Playlist to be enjoyed post class. We are proud to offer supreme arts education and will continue to develop these series in other genres of music. You can be sure the Wyckoff YMCA will be your cultural hub for all things dance, music, and theatre today and for many years to come!
Aladdin Kids
The Y Arts Kids cast of Aladdin Kids took us on a magic carpet ride and we couldn’t stop smiling from ear to ear. When you’re part of the Y Arts Kids family, you “ain’t never had a friend” like us!
