Safety Town is a program designed to teach children entering Kindergarten in September different strategies about safety at home and in their community.
Our day is filled with fun activities that teach the children a number of safety practices through arts and crafts, games and songs. In addition, the children will learn about personal safety through a presentation by a police officer from the Oakland Police Department as they become aware of pedestrian, traffic safety, and stranger danger. The AAA Otto the Auto Program will visit to also talk to the Safety Town Children about pedestrian safety. Our town’s community helpers - the Oakland First Aid Squad and Fire Department - will educate the children about preventative strategies in fire safety and first aid. And, a trip to the Wyckoff Y’s Spring Lake to learn about water safety rounds out our safety curriculum. Snack will be provided and the program is held rain or shine.
