SACC March Newsletter

Welcome to our Monthly School Age Child Care Newsletter!
During the first week of March, Read Across America was celebrated nationwide. So, of course, we wanted to honor the great Dr. Seuss with some fun activities. The children did a “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” craft and also an “Oh The Places You Will Go” activity where the children had a chance to dream about the adventure of travel and the places they will go, but also the path they can choose every day no matter the obstacle. Because as Dr. Seuss said,
“You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
In any direction you choose”.
With the emphasis on reading this month, we thought to expand that learning to the overall monthly theme of KNOWLEDGE. Each week had activities that focused on different areas of Knowledge – Weather, Astronomy, Science, STEAM, Math and Creative Writing/Language Arts. These activities included an Earth, Sun, and Planet mobile, a Walking Water Experiment, a Chromatography Flower, and a week-long Book Making project.
And, of course, we enjoyed St. Patrick’s Day fun as well as crafts for our Monthly National Days activities – National Pig Day and National Panda Day.
Please see below the March Monthly Project that further promoted the idea that reading is such an important part of learning. You can also see some of the winners of the Monthly Coloring Contest.
Kind Regards,
Sharon T. - Director of School Age Child Care
