MONDAY CLASSES:
BASKETBALL

Session I-II & Session III-IV
Begin with the basics/fundamentals, stance/triple threat and progress through to more advanced skills including dribbling, passing, defense, shooting, rebounding and more, leading up to game play.

Through structured and guided movement experiences, participants are encouraged to explore their own movement style at their own pace, fostering creativity, physical awareness, and a sense of empowerment in a welcoming and supportive environment.

PICKLEBALL

Pickleball is a social, and friendly paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badmintion, and ping-pong. Cover the basics of the rules, terminology, primary skills, court positioning, scoring, and game situations in this class. All equipment is provided.

Work with a variety of materials to create some fun and useful projects including yarn, fabric strips, glue, tissue paper, clay, paint, and wood.

Improve cardiovascular endurance while strengthening the body with group fitness and sport-related skill games. Work on listening and directional skills while developing group interaction and teamwork.

SHINING STAR SOCIAL CLUB

Learn how to socialize, focus on our community, and enjoy a healthy lifestyle through themed events that are fun for the whole group. We do all this by creating collaborative games, group talks, and more! A time together filled with dinner time discussions while proper etiquette and social interaction is the focus. Dinner is included.

AQUACISE

Work your heart while jogging and doing exercises in the pool that provide a lot of resistance for muscles, but no wear and tear on your joints. Whether you’re looking to lose weight, tone muscles, improve flexibility, or increase endurance, aquacising has been scientifically proven to do the body good!

TENNIS/TABLE TENNIS

The specialized play-based curriculum encourages social interaction, basic athletic skills, hand-eye coordination, balance, and, of course, a love of tennis. The environment is both structured and flexible, with developmentally appropriate equipment that help players feel successful with every swing!

DANCE

Improve motor skills, confidence, and socialization. Through simple patterns, sequencing, and repetition, students learn the basics of movement, rhythm, and jazz dance.

MUSICAL THEATRE PERFORMANCE

Sing, dance, and act your way through the year preparing and performing in 3 shows! This theatre troupe meets year-round and has multiple performance opportunities:
2026-27 Includes:
- Holiday Concert in December
- Selections from “Peter Pan” The Musical in March
- Spring Showcase in June
Participants must attend class on both Monday and Friday. To participate for the whole year, please register for both Session I-II and III-IV.

FITNESS FOUNDATIONS
Location: Wyckoff YMCA
In each Fitness Foundations group class, participants engage in a variety of wellness areas. The activities include cardiovascular, strength, balance, and flexibility exercises, and nutrition.
The benefits of the class are as follows:
- Increase muscle mass, bone density, and cardiovascular endurance.
- Improve flexibility and balance, decrease the risk of falls leading to critical injuries.
- Increase brain function, improve overall mood, and reduce stress and anxiety.
- Increase self-confidence leading to improved socialization skills.

21+ DAY PROGRAM

Shining Star 21+ is our Special Needs Day Program for individuals 21 and older with varying abilities.
It is a hands-on program that focuses on social skills, educational opportunities, and personal development while integrating the participants into the local community.
Located at Advent Lutheran Church, Mon. – Fri. (2 Day Min.)
9am-3pm: $90 per day

Wyckoff YMCA Revolution Athletes take part in Special Olympics offerings throughout the year where they hone their skills, improve their health, and empower themselves in an inclusive environment. Emulating the Special Olympics mission, Athletes focus on what they can do, not what they can’t do.

Special Olympics Basketball
Special Olympics Basketball is one of the top sports at Special Olympics.
Players take it up at all ages and at all abilities, from young players learning to handle the ball and keep it under control while dribbling to older, more experienced players who have the moves and know the strategies to play challenging ball.
Skills Assessment for the newly established "Wyckoff YMCA Revolution"
Special Olympics Basketball Team:
- Assessing the players basketball ability on shooting, dribbling, passing, and overall skills.
What to Expect:
- Practices every Thursday at the Y from 5-5:45pm beginning in November
- Max of 10 Athletes make the team; the remaining can choose to practice to enrich and improve upon their basketball skills
- Athletes are chosen based on similar basketball skillsets
- The Season begins mid-January and runs to March
- Games are played every Sunday morning
