Member Code of Conduct
Wyckoff Family YMCA MEMBER CODE OF CONDUCT
The Wyckoff Family YMCA is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all by embracing the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. To promote safety and comfort, the YMCA asks all persons to always act appropriately when in our facilities, on our property, or participating in our programs. If at any time your behavior does not support these values, the YMCA has the right to revoke your Membership status.
Our Member’s Code of Conduct outlines prohibited actions, but the actions listed below are not an all-inclusive list of behaviors considered inappropriate in our facilities or programs.
- Children under the age of 13 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times and are prohibited from entering the fitness center.
- Discrimination, harassment, or intimidation by words, gestures, body language, or any type of menacing behavior because of race, skin color, age, creed, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, national origin, or handicap.
- Physical abuse or mistreatment.
- Violence or threats of violence.
- Verbally abusive behavior, including profanity, angry language, swearing, name-calling, shouting, or bullying.
- Carrying or concealing any weapons or devices or objects that may be used as weapons.
- Sexually explicit conversation, material, or behavior; any sexual contact with another person.
- Inappropriate, immodest, or sexually revealing attire.
- Theft or behavior that results in the destruction or loss of property.
- Using or possessing alcohol or illegal chemicals on YMCA property or at YMCA-sponsored programs.
- Smoking on YMCA property - All YMCA buildings and grounds are smoke-free environments. This includes vaping and e-cigarettes.
- Loitering is not permitted in or outside the YMCA.
- Using YMCA facilities to work with a “client” or facilitate a “third-party program” regardless of membership status, without being an employee of the YMCA.
- Disregard of facility guidelines, including cell phone use in non-designated areas and cleaning protocols.
- To respect the privacy of our members, photography and video recording are prohibited.
- Any other conduct of an inappropriate, threatening, or offensive nature.
In addition, the YMCA reserves the right to deny access or membership to any person who as been accused or convicted of any crime involving physical, verbal or sexual abuse, is or has been a registered sex offender, has ever been convicted of any offense related to the sale, possession and/or transportation of illegal drugs, is currently under the influence of illegal or dangerous drugs or chemicals, narcotics, or intoxicating beverages, or has been accused or convicted of any crime or accused of any conduct that would, in the YMCA’s sole judgment be contrary to the YMCA’s commitment to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all.
