Food Network Inspired Class: Pantry and refrigerators will be open and ideas given to get your mind thinking, “hey what are we making?!” for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Jot down your recipes to share with family and friends.

NEW! Chopped: Around the World COOKING

Gr. 3 & Up

Tue. 5-6:15pm

Let’s travel through food! Meatballs from Sweden, pierogies from Poland, taquitos from Mexico, samosas from India, bruschetta from Italy, Nanaimo bars from Canada, and more! Get your passports stamped and learn a fun fact or two about our destinations. Your culinary adventures await!

Babysitting Course 

Gr. 5-8  Sess. I/II

Mon. 6-7pm 

Train with the American Red Cross Curriculum to build confidence in handling an emergency situation to make you a more successful babysitter. Basic care, safety tips, safe play, and first aid will be among the numerous topics discussed.

The Sewing Nook:

Learn basic sewing skills; how to measure, read a pattern, cut out, and assemble the pieces properly along with the use of a sewing machine.

It’s Sew Fun: Level 1sewing

Wed. 5-6pm   Gr. 3 & Up

Sess. I:  Learn both hand and machine sewing techniques.  Style your own stuffed scottie dog and learn about measuring, pattern use, and how to set elastic in flannel PJ pants.
 
Sess. II:  Make a comfy hooded polar fleece pullover robe.  Learn to set a pocket, add a hood, and set in sleeves. Sew matching socks too!

Sew Much More: Level 2  sewing tools

Thu. 5-6pm   Gr. 3 & Up

Must have completed Level 1 course.
Sess. I:  Make a custom fit, button front polar fleece jacket with a contrast cuffed sleeve and a matching bow headband or hat. Skills will include setting a sleeve, making a facing and buttonholes for the front closure.
 
Sess. II:  This cute cross body bag has a quilted front and a zippered pocket. Learn basic quilting techniques and how to set in a zipper.​

Sew Your Own Project sewing machine

Director Approval. It is up to you! Select a project and purchase fabric accordingly. Must have completed Level 1 and 2 of Sewing.

NEW! Sewing Machine Tutorial 

(2) 60 min. Privates

Bring your own machine. Learn how your machine works and what the functions and feet allow you to do: button holes, decorative stitching, and setting in zippers. Learn about threads, needles, troubleshooting, and basic machine maintenance.

NEW! Blackout Poetry blackout

Gr. 4 & Up Tue. 4-5pm Sess. I / II

Create poetry by combining arts and crafts with Language Arts. The words for blackout poems are already written on the page, but it’s up to the blackout poet to bring new meaning and life to these words. Using the pages of an existing text, isolate then piece together single words or short phrases to create lyrical masterpieces. A poem lives within the words and lines of any page...let’s uncover it!

NEW! Virtual Reality: The Future is Now

Gr. 3 & Up Wed. 5-6:30pm Sess. I

Embark on an EPIC adventure in virtual reality! Learn the foundations of VR design by creating your own virtual worlds, exploring simulated environments, and crafting memorable 3D experiences. VR projects can be viewed on a website or a mobile device. Participants do not need a mobile device to take the class. Students will work in pairs or teams and VR projects will be available on a password protected website to share with friends and family.

NEW! ROBLOX™

Gr. 3 & Up Wed. 5-6:30pm Sess. II computers

Discover how to code in the Lua language while playing and designing worlds in ROBLOX, an online universe where you can create anything you dream of. Combine game design concepts, coding, and fun! Young entrepreneurs will also learn how to navigate Roblox’s fast growing marketplace to publish their games. Student-created games will be available on a password protected website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.
